Frontline Plus for cats FAQs

Tried and trusted by pet owners like you, Frontline has satisfaction ratings in excess of 97%.* Read our FAQs for more information on its most advanced range, Frontline Plus.

How long does Frontline take to work?

Frontline starts working once the product has spread over the whole body surface, which can take up to 24 hours after application. Thereafter, fleas are killed within 24 hours and ticks killed within 48 hours.

How does Frontline work?

Once applied, Frontline is stored in the sebaceous glands in your cat’s skin and spreads over the whole body surface with their natural oils. Fleas and ticks are killed through contact with your cat’s skin and coat so they do not need to bite to be killed. This topical defence kills parasites on contact, without the need for them to bite to be killed. Frontline kills fleas by affecting their nervous system, making them hyperactive before dying. These dying fleas often rise to the top of the pet’s coat and bounce, so if you feel like you may be seeing fleas more after treatment, it could actually be a sign that the product is working.

How long does Frontline last?

For optimal protection from fleas and ticks with Frontline Plus, you should treat your pet every 4 weeks.

Which is best Frontline or Frontline Plus?

Both products kill fleas and ticks on your pet, however, Frontline Plus is an advanced formula that also stops flea eggs from hatching and infesting your home, protecting both your pet and home from fleas.

How often should you flea a cat with Frontline?

Frontline is effective for 4 weeks. For optimal protection from fleas and ticks with Frontline, you should therefore apply Frontline to your cat every 4 weeks.
