Preheat your oven to 200\u2103 and line a small 11cm round cake tin. If you don\u2019t have one, you could make several cupcakes instead.<\/p>

Mix the mashed banana, whisked egg, grated carrot, melted coconut oil and oat milk together in a bowl. Then add the flour and combine everything together.<\/p>

Spoon the cake mixture into the baking tin or cupcake cases.<\/p>

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Don\u2019t worry if the cake doesn\u2019t rise too much, but make sure it\u2019s cooked-through before removing from the oven and allowing to cool.<\/p>

For the frosting, peel, chop and boil the potato until soft (this takes 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the potato pieces). Mash and use water to loosen as needed. Make sure it remains thick and creamy in texture.<\/p>

Cut the cooked cake into two layers and fill with some of the mashed potato, leaving enough to decorate the top.<\/p>

If you\u2019re feeling fancy, use a piping bag to decorate your cake with the mashed potato. You can also just spoon this on and smooth it over. Then simply add their favourite dog treats on top and a stick-shaped edible treat for the birthday cake candle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The decoration is of course optional and the bit that makes this cake extra special, but if you\u2019re just looking to give your dog something a bit different, you may prefer to simply make the sponge on its own. You could layer it with a little extra mashed banana or sprinkle the treats on top instead. We certainly don\u2019t think your dog will judge you if their mashed potato topping isn\u2019t piped to perfection – or piped at all!<\/p>
