Whilst it's not always easy to amuse our feline friends it is definitely worth trying to introduce cat training games as they can help to relieve boredom and offer them a lot more mental stimulation in their daily routine.
Here are a few simple yet effective ways to keep your cat entertained in a fun and interactive way, even if you're on a budget.
Fishing for Fun
You can make your own wand using a dowling wood stick, or even a sturdy stick from outside, some string and your cats favourite small toy such as a mouse or fish tied to the end. Gently 'cast' the toy out and watch your kitty quickly chase the toy as you pull it away. Ta-dah!
There's an App For That
If you have a tablet or smartphone, you might consider installing some apps for your cat. Here are a few of our favourites:
- CatFishing 2
Your cat can go fishing! Virtual fish float up the screen and score points when your cat successfully places his or her paw on one. If your cat loses interest, you'll hear a meow to encourage the play to continue.
Watch your cat practice catching little bugs as they appear onto your screen. The colours, movement and game-play have been researched and tested for maximum feline fun.
- CatAlone 2
Entertain your cat for hours with this fast moving game featuring feathers, spiders, mice and more!
Warning: If you are going to let your cat play on your tablet or smartphone expect some scratches!
It's the Little Things
Simply crumple a piece of paper (shiny paper or foil works particularly well) and roll it across the floor. Most cats can't resist the sound crumpled paper makes. Try attaching some yarn or string to the paper ball and let your cat chase it!
